Overview

WALK DESCRIPTION: 3.5 miles circular. The walk is on grass/tarmac and rough paths through wooded areas. We end at the MAC, where we may have either a picnic lunch at the MAC tables or else lunch in their Cafe for those who wish. It is only a short walk on to the Selly Oak Tavern for those who would like something more substantial, and the 45/47 bus can be caught there to return to the City.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS: We meet at the picnic tables at the back of the Midland Arts Centre, B12 9QH, off Edgbaston Road (opposite the Cricket Ground) at 11.00 am. The MAC can be reached by the Nos 45 and 47 bus (stop NS4 on St. Martin's Queensway - opposite the main entrance to Moor Street Station). The 10.23 am bus would be suitable, alighting at Priory Road, Edgbaston at 10.37 am, and then walking a short distance down Edgbaston Road in the direction of Moseley to reach the Park (a short walk past Aldi’s and then the Park entry is on your right). The No.1 bus also stops at Cannon Hill Park if that route is more convenient. Bus travel is of course free for those with West Midlands Travel Cards or £4.50 Day Saver ticket without. For those who prefer to drive there is a large car park at the MAC, B12 9QH off Edgbaston Road (opposite the Cricket Ground), council parking charges, £4.50.
