Overview

We start our walk from the centre of the village along past the primary school before turning right along the country track towards the river and glamping pods before we reach Bennan farm.

Further on we pick up the church trail heading along the river banks where we can see the original ducting that at one time fed water to power the mills for the making of muslin and the corn mills.

We then return to the village where the Buck Tearoom makes delicious home baking.

For information: The original walk would have taken in Lady Hunter Blair trail through the forest to the waterfalls but unfortunately due to unsafe trees along the walk this section of the trail is closed and has been since 2021.

Travel direction: Leaving the meeting point we travel along the M77 towards Ayr where we continue on the M77 until we reach Minishant. Immediately leaving Minishant we turn left heading for Straiton.

Anyone travelling direct to the starting point please let the walk leader know on 07867 544 342.

The distance is 28ml each way, 56ml round trip. ( 56ml x 30p = £17 per car)
