This walk is a figure of 8 route starting at Sizergh Castle National Trust Car Park. We take a couple of short ascents onto Helsington Barrows and then undulating paths before arriving at the locally named "Mushroom" for 360 views. With good visibility there is a great panorama from Fairfield in the North to the Pennines and the Howgills in the East, Morecambe Bay (even Blackpool tower) in the South and as far West as Black Coombe and the Lake District Fells.
The paths are good over Scout Scar, there is then one short steep decent from the Scar into Honeybee Wood.
This is a moderate walk at a leisurely pace, suitable for those who enjoy well maintained footpaths and can handle a bit of terrain change.
It is also advisable that dogs will need to be kept on leads throughout this walk.
Any National Trust members please bring your NT cards.
