Overview

Saturday, 14th February 2026. Meet at 11.00 at the free car park at The Green, Wraysbury for a short Valentine themed walk around the Colne Brook and the Ankerwycke Estate. In addition to seeing a fine display of snowdrops there may be a capering Jester as well as, we hope, romantic sonnets from Staines Ramblers very own Poet Laureate ! If all that’s not enough we will also visit the ruins of Ankerwycke Priory and The Ankerwycke Yew, at 2,500 years old, the National Trust’s Oldest Tree. There is, it must be said, a high likelihood of mud on this walk ! So suitable footwear highly desirable. Bring your own refreshments for the coffee stop. Possible pub at the end of the walk.

Please phone or text the leader to register for this walk by latest 7pm the evening before.
