Overview

On 20th October 2025 a new greenway between Lichfield and Chasewater was opened on the track bed of the South Staffordshire railway. As we leave Lichfield we join the path, which has a hard core stone base. Recommend boots with good ankle support. For approximately 3 miles we follow the track bed until turning off into Hammerwich for a stop at St John the Baptist church. It's a bit muddy along one particular part of the path to the church. We head back over fields and lanes towards Lichfield. There are approximately 4 stiles, one could be a little tricky to get over. Local public toilets are available at the start of the walk, if needed.
