A chance to visit Stonehenge when you are allowed to walk amongst the stones for free along with the thousands that turn up for this occasion. But being Eastleigh Ramblers we do it the long way. Bring a torch (it will only be needed for less than an hour) and food and drink.
Please read the rules of entry on the web link provided.
Meet at Bonneymead Park Meadow Car park at 02.00am. To get there from the centre of Amesbury go down Church Road, cross the Avon and up Recreation Road on the left which ends at the car park.
This 9.6 mile walk is significantly different from previous solstice walks. The mileage does not include what you may do within the Stonehege enclosure. The route will then head back into Amesbury across the River Avon and the A303 to start the walk by visiting various barrows and then approach Stonehenge from the East by which time it will be twilight. It is expected that we will enter the site at 04.00. Sunrise is 04.41. We will meet up by the Heel Stone at 05.00 and then walk along The Avenue to the Cursus and then to Woodhenge. Then it is through Durrington Walls to Durrington to cross the Avon into Bulford for a return route along the east side of the Avon. By the time we get to Amesbury the Bell Inn should have opened for a big breakfast.
To assist in completing the Attendance Register please send an email to the leader via the link provided to confirm that you are coming before 20.00 on 20 June 2025. You will not get a reply unless you have asked a question. If all those who have registered are present the walk may start earlier.
