We will depart from outside Buxton railway station and make our way past the pump room to the Pavilion Gardens and on past some very posh houses towards Poole Caverns. From there we enter some lovely woods and climb up towards Solomon’s Temple, entering onto moorland with lovely views. We then head past the Caravan park to cross the A53, taking a footpath up over Featherbed Moss towards Dane Head. We descend to the A53 via a quiet road before crossing over to walk down another quiet road , turning off to descend through woods towards the HSE testing site. Our footpath then takes us towards the GrinLow road, with views down to the Tufa Calcite terraces. Our return to the station is via a country track before rejoining the outward route at the Pavilion gardens.
We aim to start the walk at 10.00, but I will be on the train from Hazel Grove due to arrive at 9.54 so the start time will depend on Northern Rail!
There are several car parks near to Buxton station. However if people wish to get the 9.15 train from Hazel Grove there is plenty of free parking at the station. Please note that the train starts at Hazel Grove due to Stockport station being closed in August
