We are the Alton Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We start at The Trooper Inn, Petersfield Road, Froxfield, GU32 1BD. Heading East downhill through Oakshott Hanger. South onto Down Hanger the East down Old Litten Lane to Wheatham Hill. Southwest to East side of the Shoulder of Mutton Hill. South on Hangers Way, across the A3 on to Shipwrights Way. Northwest to Bell Hill then cross the A3 again and head Northwest to Ridge Farm. Head Northeast back to the start.
A 10-mile circular route along quiet country roads, woodland and open farmland, walking at times on Hangers Way and The Shipwright Way. A very undulating course with views across the countryside. A short stop for light refreshment at about one hour into the walk. A 20-minute stop for lunch at about the halfway point and a short refreshment break later into the walk. Please bring plenty of water and the snacks and hot drinks you require. Finishing back at The Trooper Inn with an option of staying for a late lunch (food served until 1500 hours).
Please note: this route is suitable for experienced middle-distance walkers who like the challenge of a hilly walk.

Turn on to Petersfield Road from the A32. Sign posted Steep and Froxfield. Brown signpost to The Trooper Inn and White Hart Pub. Continue for approximately 2 miles - The Trooper Inn is on the left side of the road. The Stagecoach 38 bus stops adjacent to the start.
