Join us on our first walk of the New Year! Starting at the large Miller's Dale Car Park, we will set off along the Monsal Trail, a disused railway line with interesting industrial heritage along its route. After a long dark tunnel, we will drop down to Cheedale to follow this delightful river with its towering limestone cliffs. There is a long line of stepping stones to traverse so be prepared for this challenge. Leaving the dale, we head up a steep ascent towards the village of Wormhill following Flag Dale and Peter Dale. The Limestone Way will take us back down to Miller's Dale.
Paths are generally good but limestone can be very slippery if wet or icy.
Parking costs £6.60 and can be paid by credit card or cash or the RingGo App - Location 51716 but wifi is poor at the car park.
The narrow stepping stones would likely be unsuitable for dogs. Please contact the leader if you wish to bring a dog.
Please contact the Leader if you'd like to join this walk.
If the river level is high, we will not attempt the stepping stones but will continue along the Monsal Trail and enjoy the view of the dale and river from above.
