Overview

The walk descends the scarp (gently) over West Woodhay Down passing Highwood Farm & Great Farm before skirting Inkpen.  We pass Totterdown House, heading for Ham, before a short but steep climb up the scarp to take the Mid Wilts Way & Wayfarer’s Way back to the cars.  The going varies from good to soft with some muddy stretches in wooded areas and restricted byways.  Around 1,000’ ascent/descent, 400’ of it in the climb after Ham.

Please park at the Combe Gibbet & Walbury Hill car park (the easternmost carpark) for a walk along the paths and tracks below the Walbury Hill scarp. Some of the parking area is quite rough ground, so it is as well to arrive in good time to bag the better surface.
