We initially head north-west beside Scotspoor Wood, before walking alongside Picked Planation, where we may be fortunate enough to be accompanied by the sound of skylarks as well as seeing a plethora of hares, before dropping down to the village of Tidcombe, where we will stop to take a look at the church with its Saxon font. Hopefully, we will be rewarded with some spectacular views on this first section of the walk. A wooded footpath then takes us gently eastwards to join the Pewsey Vale Circular Walk, which we follow as it undulates past a number of copses, while climbing slowly to the top of Fosbury Camp, an Iron Age hillfort on top of Knolls Down. This section again, providing some spectacular views - given good weather. Continuing along the Pewsey Vale Circular Walk, we drop down to reach Goudyses Gate, from where we meander along Conholt Bottom and Hippenscombe Bottom. This farm track sporting both a tarmac road and a grass verge. A relatively steep ascent takes us to Chantry Lane, before we return to the cars via Tanners Copse.
This is an exposed hilly walk on predominately firm farm tracks and field paths, so please dress appropriately for the weather forecast on the day.
There are 5 stiles, none of which is in particularly good condition but all of which are usable.
The walk is limited to 18 walkers and hence you are requested to book online before 6.00pm on Saturday, 18th April.
Please bring sufficient food and drink for the day.
