We start with a visit to the ancient Marcle Yew. Then over relatively flat fields, along the Three Choirs Way via Gregg’s Pit Pear Orchards, to reach the ancient church at Kempley. There’s time to admire the finest medieval wall paintings found in Britain, before our return through Hall Wood and Yewtree Coppice, back to the Walwyn Arms for an optional lunch.
On parking, the Walwyn Arms landlord will be present with the lunch menu to take orders, just like pre-Covid times!
There will be a short guided tour of the church and the imagery of wall paintings, dating from the early 12th century, will be explained.
