Overview

A leisurely 6 mile walk which is pretty well flat for the whole route. Meeting at the entrance to Mill road car park, next to the museum, in Arundel we walk along the bank of the river Arun until we cross the railway line in Warningcamp. We will enjoy great views of the castle. We then loop through country lanes, fields and woodland until returning to the railway crossing. There is a glorious stretch of snowdrops just off the track here and when I did my recce for this walk on the 16th Feb they were out in all their glory. Fingers crossed, we'll still see a good show..

There will be mud in places and I'd recommend a walking pole but on the plus side.... there are no stiles. There is a loo in the car park at the start and finish. Bring a snack / picnic. We'll have one 15 minute break at about 11.30am.There are plenty of places to have coffee and cake in Arundel and the plan is to decide where, for those wishing to do so, as we near the end of the walk.

Parking - Mill road car park is £3.50 up to four hours, £5 thereafter. N.B. early arrivals might be able to park for free along Mill road if they can find a space.

Coming by train? Arundel railway station is a 10 minute walk from the starting point. Head off towards the town by taking the route indicated by the entrance to Castle Cabs in the station forecourt. As you enter the town, walk past the Co-op, cross over the bridge and Mill road car park is on your right, opposite the entrance to the Caste.
