This is an undulating walk along the paths, tracks and lanes around Woodcote, a large part of the walk following the Chiltern Way extension. Leaving the car park, we head East, passing through Whitchurch Hill and then extensive woodland making for Exlade Street. We continue heading for Checkendon, turning West before reaching the village and then South via the delightfully named Massey’s Pightle. Heading South-West, we skirt Woodcote, passing through various woodlands to reach Goring. From Goring we head West, flirting briefly with the Thames Path, before climbing up and over Hartslock and slowly regaining altitude to return to the carpark.
The going varies from good to soft/wet, with some muddy/very muddy stretches on the bridleways in the woodlands. Walking poles and gaiters recommended for those using them. There is one short but steep ascent and descent. There are no stiles.
Please come prepared for the weather and conditions underfoot and bring sufficient food and drink for the day.
The walk is limited to 20 walkers, please book online using the link before 6pm, Wednesday, 11 February..
