Starting from Wilford Village Pocket P&R. We cross the Trent and into Nottingham via Queens Walk, past the train station, then on toward the castle. From the castle, we go down into The Park and on to Castle Boulevard, which we follow for a short distance before crossing over to the towpath of the Nottingham & Beeston Canal. We then follow the canal to its junction with the river Trent, then along Victoria Embankment and back to the start.
Although this is essentially an urban walk, there are several places of interest along the
This walk is entirely on made-up paths. The walk up to the Castle and down into the Park is fairly steep. There are several road crossings, all with traffic control. Some of the route is on shared footpaths, so please be aware of cyclists.
We shall take a drinks break alongside the canal. There is limited seating, but toilets are available in the adjacent supermarket. The lunch stop is at Victoria Memorial Gardens on the Embankment, and there is ample seating. There are toilets, but there is no guarantee that they will be open.
