We are the York Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
I have attempted to plan a walk to avoid as much mud as possible. It leaves Hovingham passing Hovingham Spa and through the village of Cawton. Heading over Cawton Heights we reach Blackdale Farm Mills. Up the road through Cawton with a brief look at Cawton Mill which was the subject of two programmes of ‘Renovation Nation’ on TV. Lunch will be in the viewing area at Scackleton. From here we head to Airyholme Farm and the only possibility of mud on this walk for a 400m stretch by the beck. From here a 1 1/2 mile easy walk back to the start through Hovingham South Wood.
