The walk starts from Otley Chevin Surprise View carpark and is about 9 miles with 1700 feet of ascent.
We start off south on the Welcome Way towards The Grove and then head north towards the Ebor Way and Chevin Forest Park, after which we explore the woods and crags and many different features of the Chevin.
It is an area rich in wildlife and different habitats, and includes wonderful views towards Wharfedale, many different rock formations, a stone maze and a geology trail and a sculpture trail. There are a mixture of paths and tracks, some of which are narrow and steep and some of which are wide and easy. There is also one section, where there is an ancient path and over 200 steps going up from Otley to Surprise View.
Parking is free.
There are no formal toilet facilities
If the weather is very wet we will adapt/shorten the route to avoid a couple of potentially slippery sections.
