Group name: Vale of White Horse
This group is a part of Oxfordshire Area.
Our activities include:
Short and easy walks, Dog-friendly walks, Path maintenance
Our group helps local people enjoy walking and protect the places we love to walk. We organise regular walks led by competent leaders - a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness. You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore.
Main features of the area are the White Horse at Uffington, the river Thames and the Ridgeway National Trail. Abingdon, Wantage and Faringdon are all market towns. The group runs an annual leadership training course. Unless stated otherwise, dogs are allowed, but preferably on leads.
The Vale Way is a 27 mile trail from Abingdon to Longcot designed by the group. It connects the Vale's three market towns and several villages as well as going through a variety of lovely countryside.
The Vale Path Volunteers tackle path clearances in our district and surrounding areas. Some of us are trained in the use of power tools but everyone can help in some way.
Due to Covid we are no longer publishing a six-monthly paper walks programme but we still plan six monthly programmes (April-September and October to March) which you can find online here.
