Overview
This is one of our Sunday walks that aims to finish around lunchtime. It is designed to give viewpoints of features on and around White Horse Hill that many walkers do not reach. Consequently, the route includes lots of ups and downs, including some very steep ones on rough ground, which could be slippery, if wet. It is for these reasons that the walk has been categorised as strenuous. Think of it as an upland walk. If you have walking poles, I would advise bringing them. The walk links prehistoric features - the Uffington White Horse, the Ridgeway, Uffington Castle – and several with legends attached – the Giant’s Steps, the Manger and Dragon Hill. Bring a drink and a snack for the refreshment stops. The Fox and Hounds pub in Uffington is open for meals on Sundays from noon. Vale Walk Leader DC 07544 979253
