Overview

Edmundbyers & Burnhope Burn

This is a moderate circular walk of 8 miles, starting in the village of Edmundbyers and heading out SW, on a high moorland route. The views are beautiful in all directions and a couple of the old lead mining chimneys can be seen in the distance, at the half way point. We return on a lower level path, in a NE direction, above the Burnhope Burn. Most of the walk is on paths and tracks but this is heather moorland, with a lot of uneven ground and a few boggy stretches. There will be sheep around throughout the walk and there are cattle and horses, close to the lower level path, therefore I would advise against bringing dogs on this walk. Ascents and descents are all gentle on this walk.
A shorter walk is planned to be made available.
