Overview

Blackhall Mill  

A moderate, circular, 5 mile, walk starting from Riverview, Blackhall Mill. 

Taking in woodland trails and riverside paths we will make our way to an English Heritage site at Derwentcote. From there the walk takes us through Byerside Wood and along the Derwent Walk to Ebchester. From there back to Blackhall Mill along the river Derwent.

Directions - Depart and take the A693 to Stanley. At the roundabout take 3rd exit for A6076/High Street. After 0.3 m bear left onto Barn Hill then immediately bear left onto B6173. After 2.2 m turn right onto A692 then immediately turn left onto Syke Road. After 1 m turn left onto B6310. Travel 2 m then turn right for 125 yds to take you onto the A694. Turn left on A694. In 1 m arriving at Hamsterley Colliery take the first right signposted Chopwell and Blackhall Mill. Down the bank and over the river take the first left onto Riverview. Proceed past the bakery and park on the road near the junction with Moraine crescent.
