This walk leaves the cul-de-sac road beyond the Philpsburn Hotel, where cars can be parked. There is also space to park beside the playing field across the A707 from Selkirk RFC's stadium. We walk up a farm track through Corby Linn and then by rough footpaths to the Three Brethren cairns.
We return by a short stretch of the Southern Upland Way, before crossing a style to follow a path which winds round Peat Law and Linglie Hill. We descend by a farm track which follows the Linglie Burn, crossing fields to reach the A707 shortly before the Philipsburn Hotel.
This is a steady climb to the cairns, requiring boots, and poles for those who use them, followed by a hilltop walk which offers striking views in good weather conditions. The cafe in Selkirk town centre was open on New Year's Day 2023, although we cannot guarantee that this will be the case again in 2024.
Grade: B+. Boots and poles are recommended.
