This is a circular walk in Twyford and Shawford with the added benefit of an early extended stop for coffee/tea, cakes and ice-cream at Platform 1 cafe, Shawford. This is a delightful place, situated in the former booking hall of the station and very reminiscent of ‘Brief Encounter’. We set off from Twyford, across the water meadows, through Compton Lock and dropping down into Shawford. After the break we will return via another part of the water meadows, past St Mary’s Church, along quiet roads, using footpaths and open fields to reach the Water Works, Twyford. We then head across fields and back down into the village, again along quiet country roads.
We meet in the pub car park in time to order lunch before the walk.
Please only use the car park if you are staying for lunch after the walk and car share if possible. If you are walking only there is alternative parking at Hunter Park, Park Lane (behind the allotments at the top of the lane) and you can join us in the pub car park.
Booking is essential and numbers will be limited. Please let me know by 6pm Tuesday, October 29th, if you would like to join us and also whether you wish to stay for lunch.
