The walk is a circular walk with a Pub lunch at the Shoe Inn, Exton. We set off from Meon Valley Country Park car park and head off in the direction of West Meon and to its lovely church, the resting place of Thomas Lord, founder of Lords Cricket ground. The route crosses open country with river and valley views to Warnford . It is from here we head up along the Monarch's Way to Beaconhill Beeches a high viewing point with a view towards the Solent. The morning walk ends with a down hill walk along the South Downs Way to Exton and a lunch stop at the Shoe Inn . An alternative picnic stop is the village church . The afternoon is a leisurely walk along the disused Railway line back to our starting point.
I advise bringing a walking pole because ascent and descent sections of the walk may be slippery, together with stretches of undulating paths, roads and tracks. Please be aware that given it is a winter walk muddy and wet conditions require good walking shoes or boots.
We have a mid morning break for refreshments .
