Starting from Oakley this circular walk will follow pathways Jane Austen would’ve walked when she visited the local gentry families around.
Progressing initially to Steventon passing Oakley Hall on the way, our walk will loop back south of Oakley along the Wayfarers, then head north to Wootton. The last section of the walk turns westward, past to past Manydown estate, Tangier House and Malshanger.
All these both ways and homesJane would have walked to and visited [in fact, she very briefly accepted a proposal of marriage where she would’ve taken up the role of Lady of Manydown Manor!].
There will be two picnic refreshment stops. Please bring appropriate sunscreen protection and sufficient water.
The route has some short country road sections and no stiles.
There is a café at the end of the route.
If the small public car park in front of Oakley school is full, there is parking available in the nearby small shopping area.
Please register for this walk so we can leave early if everyone has arrived.
