Overview

Linear walk, 6 miles am. 2.5 miles pm (optional). Lunch at The Drawbridge Inn, Drawbridge Lane, Shirley, B90 1DD. The morning walk is almost completely flat along the Birmingham- Stratford-upon-Avon canal towpath, with a short road walk and path through Kings Norton playing fields to the recently restored Junction House. In the afternoon there is a short walk along the North Worcestershire Path, with some field and lane walking. Leaders: Paul Hatton (morning), Sandra Sutton (afternoon).

Our Wednesday walks include a lunchtime pub stop. Requirements for meals from the pub menu are usually requested and ordered before the start of the walk by the leader. Walkers who prefer to take a picnic lunch are welcome to do so and the leader will have a place designated for this somewhere near the pub, in the village, or in the area where we are stopping for lunch.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS: Meet at the entrance to Kings Norton station by 10.15 am. The West Midlands Railway Cross City line service from New Street, departing at 9.53 am, arrives Kings Norton 10.08 am (check times on the day). By bus, services through Cotteridge for Kings Norton station are the 45, 47, 11 and 18. The return journey will be from Whitlock’s End station to Moor Street, trains roughly every 20 minutes. If using a West Midlands travel pass, this will be valid for Kings Norton and the return from Whitlocks End.
