Overview

Moderate to brisk-paced 17.3km/10.7 mile walk, with 160m ascent. About 4 hours net walking.

Route: East from the station to Silverbridge House, Wealdway to Arlington, Bate's Green Farm, Old Oak Inn, loop through Abbot's Wood, Old Oak Inn, lunch, NW to Millwood and Michelham Priory (possible tea stop), through Upper Dicker and past The Plough, Wealdway south to River Cuckmere, west and southwest to Arlington Reservoir, NW along Ludlay Coppice, SW past Mays Farm and across railway line to Green House, east to Berwick Station.

Lunch Stop: The Old Oak Inn, Arlington (7.4 km/4.6m) https://www.oldoakinnarlington.co.uk/ or The Plough, Upper Dicker (10.2 km/6.3m) https://www.plough-upperdicker.co.uk/.

Meet at Berwick Station at 11.25.

Travel: Victoria 09.54/Clapham Junction 10.01/East Croydon 10.10/Lewes 10.56 - changing at Lewes to 11.14 Eastbourne train - arr Berwick at 11.25.

Ticket/Fare: Off-Peak Day Return to Berwick. Freedom Pass buy from East Croydon.

Finish: Berwick Station. Return trains x09 via Lewes) and x25 (via Polegate). Likely trains 16.25 or 17.09. Pub at Station.
