Moderate-paced 9 mile circular walk with (hopefully) plenty of bluebells to see!
Route: Ridgeway Trail, 5,000 years old, undulates to Ivinghoe Beacon at 233m, wide views; Icknield Way; Dockey Wood (lunch stop). This wood is on the National Trust’s Ashridge Estate and is managed by the NT so that Bluebells can be seen at their best. There is a small (£3.50) entry charge, free to NT members. Then south through woods to the Bridgewater Monument (café and toilets). The route descends to the attractive village of Aldbury. A level path through fields returns to Tring Station.
Lunch: picnic - bring own food.
Meet at Tring Station at 11:01 (no toilets at station - use toilets on train).
Travel: Euston 10:24/ Harrow & Wealdstone 10.36/Watford Junction 10.44 (Birmingham New Street service). check trains the day before.
Ticket/Fare: Buy Off-Peak Day Return to Tring.
