Overview

The Sea in Summer

Catch the 8.54 train from London Victoria to Eastbourne changing at Lewes for the connection to Berwick.  Buy a cheap day return to Eastbourne

Meet Berwick Station at 10.25

From Berwick station we head south to the sea stopping on route at Berwick Church before a pub  stop in Alfriston.  There are also cafés or bring a picnic if you prefer.   After lunch we walk by the Cuckmere River to Exceat where there is possible drop out point, eight miles into the walk, with a bus back to Eastbourne.  We then walk to the coast and the chalk cliffs before returning inland for the scenic bus journey to Eastbourne.

Ten miles in total to and from the coast.
