Signorelli is a local Italian bakery and cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating. Please meet there by 10.45 at the very latest.
After coffee, at 11.00, we will have an optional walk, to include the Olympic Park, a couple of canal stretches, the lakes of Victoria and Mile End Parks, then into Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park (a woodland nature reserve). We finish at Mile End Tube Station, where there are also buses and the possibility of tea. We pass near Hackney Wick Overground and there are several bus stops along the way, for Hackney or Mile End, if you wish to drop out.
There are toilets in Westfield, the Olympic Park and Victoria Park.
Bring a picnic lunch if you wish to walk beyond Hackney Wick.
Signorelli, 15 Endeavour Square, E20 1JN. From Stratford Station (Tube, Overground, DLR and mainline) go to the first floor of Westfield Centre (I take the escalator by WH Smith). Turn right at the top and follow signs to the Olympic Park. After M&S you pass TK Maxx, on Stratford Place. Then, just before you reach John Lewis, turn left into Chestnut Plaza, which is lined with restaurants and bars, including Wahaca. At the end, cross Westfield Avenue and walk straight ahead a few metres, into a pedestrian area and towards the West Ham United Stadium. Signorelli is in the first row of cafes on the right hand side, next to Figo.
