There are gentle to moderate climbs in the morning and afternoon, with descents, woodland and some lovely views of rolling Chilterns countryside. Lunch is at the Red Lion, Water End, after 4½ miles. The pub serves a wide range of meals, including excellent pizzas from a wood-fired oven. If you want a pub lunch, please email Annette by close on Tuesday 14 October at the very latest.
In the afternoon we continue along the Chiltern Way to Hemel Hempstead. There are four trains an hour back to London.
There is a short section where we walk on a verge alongside a busy road, and care is necessary.
There are toilets at both stations. There are no drop-out points.
Walking boots are essential.
