Overview

After a short walk we visit the Church of St Michael's and All the Angels with paintings by Vanessa Bell (sister of Virginia Wolf). We continue onto Alfriston for pub lunch/picnic and then up and over the South Downs with views of the Long Man of Wilmington. Our walk ends at Wilmington where the Yew Tree in the church yard is believed to be 1,600 yeas old. Steep ascent and descent of the South Downs. Possible drink in the pub at Wilmington. Bus back to Polegate to catch the train back to East Croydon. Buy a return to Polegate. If requiring a pub lunch contact the leader by Monday 22nd September.
