from Bowden Bridge Car Park, Hayfield, we join the Pennine Bridleway heading towards Mt Famine. We turn off this to climb an unnamed ridge and then over Mt Famine. This unnamed ridge has a narrow rocky path with a steep drop at the side. If you want to avoid this it's possible to stay on the Pennine Bridleway for a longer time. The climb up to Mount Famine is also rocky and may require using hands, but it's short, and there's no steep drop to the side. Then over Brown Knoll, up Swine's Back (rocky paths) to Red Brook. From here we take a gentle downward path (ie. Not down Red Brook!) back to the cars.
All Climbs will be at a modest pace.
Please bring food and drinks for coffee and lunch stops, and prepare to celebrate the summer solstice in a wonderful landscape with beautiful views.
