We will be catching the 10.30 train from Pant which runs to the east of both the Pontsticill and Pentwyn Reservoirs to Torpantau and then making the return journey to Pant by foot.
Starting our walk from Torpantau, we will go through the Taf Fechan Forest where we will pass a couple of waterfalls and then join the Taff Trail. We will continue on the Taff Trail to Pontsticill village at which point we cross the dam at the bottom of the reservoir, Continuing on the Taff Trail above the river Taf we will make our way back to the station at Pant.
The paths we will follow are good tracks, most of which are through forestry, and a small amount of roadwork on a quiet lane. It is a reasonably flat walk with no steep inclines/declines.
The (pre-booked) train fare will be £15.00. Anyone who wants to book a place should make payment to Caroline (or Lynne B) before 30 June to secure a place on the train (if enough people book by this date there may be a discount available). Others wishing to join the walk, and not pre-paid by 30 June will need to book their own ticket, this can be done online, or on the day but the train fare will be £16.00 and there will be no guarantee that you will be able to get a seat on the train.
Whether purchasing your ticket via Caroline or directly you must book the walk section with the walk leader.
