Join us on this enjoyable, interesting walk on the western fringes of the Yorkshire Wolds. We start from St Andrews church Bugthorpe, which although rebuilt in 1859, stands on the site of much earlier Saxon and Norman Churches. We head north on field paths to join the Chalkland Way path to Hanging Grimston Deep Dale, taking advantage of CROW land we avoid the steep Chalkland Way climb and take the less steep uphill to the top of the Dale. We then loop south along a footpath above Deepdale, to Gatehowe Road, which we follow for a short distance before taking an easterly turn to join a footpath past Mount Pleasant Farm, near the site of an abandoned medieval village, then via Open Dale, southwards to skirt Uncleby and onwards to Kirby Underdale church. Circumventing Kirby Underdale via Painsthorpe we return to Bugthorpe via footpaths and a minor road.
Regrettably no dogs other than assistance dogs by prior arrangement with the walk leader.
There are some hills and the ground is uneven and likely to be muddy in places, so walking poles may be helpful.
