This is stage 11 of the Capital Ring. It is a pleasant walk through urban parks and woodland with very little road walking. We follow the Dollis Valley Greenway for part of the way and in the afternoon walk through lovely Highgate Wood and Queens Wood, finishing at Highgate Station on the Northern Line. The distance is about 5.7 miles.
We will meet outside the barriers at Hendon Central station. There is a Costa here.
We will have a short break after about an hour in Northway Gardens, and then stop for lunch about an hour later (12.45/1.00ish) at the cafe in Cherry Tree Wood. They serve toasted sandwiches and empanadas, with a variety of fillings, and a good selection of cakes. Or you can bring your own sandwiches.
There are plenty of public toilets en route, including in Hendon Park just after the start of the walk, and at the lunch stop in Cherry Tree Wood, as well as in Highgate Wood after lunch.
The walk is mostly flat except at the very end in Queen's Wood which has some moderately steep ups and downs. This can be avoided if necessary by walking along Muswell Hill Road for about a quarter of a mile to Highgate Station.
We finish at Highgate Station but there are plenty of drop out points including at East Finchley Station after about four miles.
