Leaving the car park by the Visitor Centre & Toilets in Castleton we head West out of town along footpaths passing Speedwell, Treak Cliff & Blue John Caverns. Ascending to Windy Knoll through fields before climbing to the top of Mam Tor (517m) on a flagstone path/steps. Following the ridge to Hollins Cross, we should have (on a clear day) amazing panoramic views over the Edale & Hope Valleys. Continuing along the ridge until we reach Brockett Booth Plantation where we walk through the wood to then contour around Losehill. We then descend footpaths through fields towards Castleton Youth Hostel (Losehill Hall) and follow footpaths & lanes back to the centre of Castleton, where there are many places for refreshments.
