Leaving the village of Hartington we head East to Beresford Dale following the River Dove till we reach Wolfscote Dale. In the steep sided valley we follow a good path below scree slopes with the River Dove tumbling over numerous weirs. After following the river for just over a mile we reach the junction with Biggin Dale where we head North up the dry stoney valley, which gradually becomes greener, before reaching Dale End. From Dale End we ascend to (317m) & follow Highfield Lane back to Hartington, passing Hartington Youth Hostel.
