A moderate walk with a gentle ascent to the top of Vivod mountain then a steep downhill section along the North Berwyn Way through heather moorland alongside the Ceiriog Forest. This is followed by forest roads, bridleways and footpaths back to the start. Excellent views to the Dee Valley on one side and the Ceriog valley the other. At this time of year we should hear the Cuckoos and see the grouse and skylarks.
If you have done this walk with me before, I have varied the route to remove the steep ascent and included a wider variety of terrain. There is a section of gorse…. you have been warned if you are planning to wear shorts.
Parking limited, car sharing requested where possible.
There will be an additional meeting point for car sharing at 9.30 Station Road Chirk.
If you take the route to the start from Chirk Castle along the ridge you will be rewarded with excellent views. The road has many potholes but is fairly straight.
