Join us for a pleasant ramble along part of the West Sussex Literary Trail, from Christ's Hospital to Pulborough. The walk will be brisk (2.5-3 miles/hour) and mostly gently undulating on bridleways to avoid the worst of the mid-November quagmire, but some sections may be muddy.
Today's route passes through attractive Sussex countryside, skirting around Christ's Hospital school and heading through the villages of Barns Green, Coneyhurst and Nutbourne and alongside the Nyetimber and Nutbourne vineyards, before we walk through Pulborough to take the train back to London.
Please bring a packed lunch - we will stop in the gardens of the Blue Idol, a 17th century Quaker meeting house founded by William Penn of Pennyslvania fame. There are no toilets en-route but plenty of natural options should nature call.
At the end of the walk, for those that wish to stay on for a drink, there is an option to stop off at Macklin's @ The Riverside, about 6-7 minutes' walk from Pulborough Station, which also serves tea and coffee.
