Overview

A gently paced autumnal walk crossing heath and farmland. The route takes us to All Saints church at Theydon Garnon, crosses the Roman Road that ran from London to Great Dunmow, along an ancient path to the site of a former Roman Villa, passes a grade 2 listed barn and crosses the iconic River Roding. At Lambourne Place we loop towards the village of Abridge and return to Theydon Bois passing a 130 metre earth sculpture inspired by seeds.

Paths are in generally good condition but maybe muddy after rain. Wear suitable shoes and clothing for the time of year.

There are 2 pubs and a number of cafés for after-walk refreshments.
