Our ramble this week starts at an earlier time with a 09.20 ferry crossing from Lymington to Yarmouth on Wightlink Ferries.
On disembarking in the Isle of Wight we will ramble, in a figure of eight configuration, from Yarmouth to Freshwater Bay and return along pavements, footpaths, bridleways and quiet country lanes.
The ramble contains both a 5 and 5+ mile option …each with pit stops.
Those choosing the 5 mile ramble will break for coffee at The End of The Line Café and will re-join the whole group as they return from Freshwater.
Those opting for the 5+ will break for a banana stop and option of coffee in the café at Freshwater Bay before commencing the return journey to Yarmouth.
Car parking at the Lymington Ferry Terminal car park £11.50 (up to 16 hours) is payable by card (no coins) by mobile using the Ring Go app (the location is 22281).
Wightlink Ferry crossing return, senior citizen, foot passenger, day return (note : please book onto the 09.20 departure and the 15.00 return). Cost £18.00 per person.
Please note : The Wightlink terminal is likely to be busy at the time we are there and whilst there are 2 ferry ticket machines within the Wightlink terminal the ticket office itself is no longer staffed. I recommend you book your ferry tickets on line before the day thereby avoiding any queues.
Our lunch time stop will be in Yarmouth at the Jireh House (a 17th century guest house, restaurant and tea rooms) where we will pre – order at the start of our ramble when we first arrive in Yarmouth.
Please note : There is a range of other eateries offering lunches in Yarmouth…e.g. The Bugle Coaching Inn, The Kings Head (sister pub of the Bugle), The Wheatsheaf Inn, The Gossips Café (overlooking the Solent)…if you wish to enjoy lunch there.
Also, for those who choose to picnic there is a nice area with tables and seating along the River Western Yar near to the ferry terminal.
After lunch there will be time to explore Yarmouth and perhaps enjoy an ice cream before we board the 15.00 ferry for our return crossing.
