Overview

A WALK DESCRIPTION: Starting from Colwall station we soon leave the village and take field paths westerly to Colwall church in its attractive setting away from the village.  We continue in a westward direction following the Geopark Way and ascend Oyster Hill, a lovely little hill which from the top offers some great far reaching views to the west.  From the trig point our descent is very gradual and most enjoyable, including an excellent view of the early 19th century Hope End House with its walled garden.  A great photo opportunity!  We turn south-east along a quiet lane, field paths and woodland and ascend Herefordshire Beacon (British Camp).  After taking in the views we drop down following some of the earthworks and then field paths to the hamlet of Evandene and a really pleasant path between woods and hills following the Geopark Way back to Colwall to finish the walk. Walk distance: 11miles. Total ascent: 1650 feet. Picnic lunch. KEEP FIT FOR A FIVER - Fare just £5.00

BOOKING ESSENTIAL, please use the link above for our booking page. Coach fare £5, payable cash/cheque or in advance by bank transfer.

The Birmingham Ramblers recently bid for, and won, a grant from the Inclusive Communities Fund which is part of the legacy of the Commonwealth Games. This grant is specifically to assist with coach transport to encourage new people to join the Sunday walks and start walking in country areas.

We will be using this fund to subsidise coach-based walks, such as this one, in areas which offer opportunities to new inexperienced walkers as well as challenges to regular walkers under the banner Keep Fit for a Fiver. As this suggests, we are reducing the coach fare for this and some other selected walks to £5 for all, be they regular walkers or new faces.
