This is a varied walk from Comrie into the lower part of the remote-feeling Glen Artney. Passing the delightful village of The Ross, we visit the Earthquake House where the world's first seisometer was sited. Continuing along good estate tracks and paths, with a short section of minor road, we walk through oak and birch woodland on the very edge of the Highlands. Reaching the Water of Ruchill, the track becomes a little rougher as we gently climb into Glen Artney, before turning uphill over a section of grass moorland and reaching another good track beneath wild hills. We return through the Aberuchill Estate and its castle, again crossing the River Earn to reach Comrie.
Good, well-surfaced paths and tracks in the early and late sections of the walk. Further into the walk some sections may be wet and muddy. There is one fence with barbed wire to climb, where a cushion of foam will be supplied to ease crossing. A little road walking will require careful attention, particularly crossing the A85 in Comrie. Although this is not a hillwalk, good walking footwear and wind and waterproof clothing will be needed, subject to the weather on the day.
