Starting at Swanbridge Cross in Sully, Vale of Glamorgan the walk will take the perimeter pathways around Cosmeston Lakes country park to the site of 'Old Cogan' and St. Peter's Church, the lakeside visitor centre and past the medievil village of Cosmeston. On leaving the park, we will head to St. Mary's Well Bay at Lavernock before crossing the tidal causeway to Sully Island and its Ironage encampment before heading back through the Sully sports ground.
The walk will start from the lay-by at Swanbridge Cross, opposite the Sully Sports and Social Club. There is a direct bus (Cardiff Bus service #94) which departs from the Cardiff Bus Interchange at 09:36, arriving at Swanbridge at 10:13 (re-check times before travelling). Car parking is available in the lay-by or in the nearby streets.
Please be aware that whilst Sully Island offers spectacular views of the Bristol Channel, the causeway crossing is over rocks and can be slippery underfoot. For those not wishing to cross to the island, there is a pub and cafe on the mainland where you can enjoy refreshments and views before re-joining the group.
