Overview

West Mendip Walkers moderate 11 mile walk, starting in Cross.  We walk along the Mendips to Barton and then along the River Axe, take a slight deviation to walk over the M5 and proceed to Loxton. A short break at Frankie Howard's cafe where we can use the loo and/or have a hot/cold drink.  Then a long climb up Loxton Hill towards Christon Plantation  and onwards to cross the M5 again to Winthill House where we shall have a snack/lunch break sitting on the slopes of Banwell Hill and looking into the valley to Winscombe and Crooks Peak.  We continue to Yarberry Farm where a standing stone of repute is supposed to be. Onwards and upwards to Barton and over the Mendips back to Cross.
