West Mendip Walkers moderate 7.5 mile walk. Starting from the Hauser and Wirth contemporary art gallery car park, we walk into Bruton town centre via the allotments. We head due west away from the town towards the church and manor of Wyke Champflower. We then have some road walking on a quiet country lane before turning left and steeply downhill through Knap Hollow to reach the hamlet of Hadspen. We then walk steeply up Nettlecombe Hill and head east to Pitcombe Church with good views of the Mendips on the way. We then make our way to C15 Godminster Manor and then turn north to make our way back to Bruton. Refreshments are available at the Hauser & Wirth, and for those interested, the gallery will have an exhibition celebrating the work of acclaimed local photographer Don McCullin (free entry).
Dog friendly, some stiles and livestock. Likely to be muddy. Toilets should be available at the start and possibly at Pitcombe Church en route. 306m. Several steep climbs.
[NB Out of fairness to everyone, regular walkers with the West Mendip Walkers are asked to take their turn in leading walks, typically around two a year].
