The Darent Valley path runs from Sevenoaks to Dartford and this is the second section.
We join the route at Eynsford , passing the Roman Villa and up Sparepenny Lane to Farningham which was a major overnight stop in the 18th century for the coach travel between London and the Kent coast . We then walk along the River Darent to South Darenth via Horton Kirby, stopping to admire the twelfth century church. Picnic lunch at South Darenth with the possibility of drinks at a local pub. Following the Darent we walk north, passing the South Darenth Viaduct, the old paper mill and past the Brooklands Lakes (site of a gunpowder factory ) to the ancient town of Dartford. Buy a travel card extension return to Eynsford, and then you have to purchase a single from Dartford to zone 6.
This is a varied walk with some undulating ground- as always, it may be muddy!
