From Horsham the route follows the High Weald Landscape Trail through St Leonards Forest and then through open countryside with a number of significant hills offering good views of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Lunch will be on the village green in the beautiful historic village of Slaugham with its lovely Norman church. Please bring a picnic as there is nowhere to buy refreshments. The afternoon walk continues through undulating fields and light woodland via the village of Cuckfield with fine views over the South Downs as we approach Haywards Heath.
Please note that this is a hilly walk with no facilities or drop out points before Cuckfield after 11 miles so bring plenty of water.
Recommended train: either the 9.00 from London Bridge, arriving Horsham at 10.10 or the 9.05 from Victoria, arriving 9.57. Please check rail timetable in case of changes.
Horsham and Haywards Heath are on different lines. Probably the cheapest option is to buy a return to Horsham and a single from Haywards Heath to Three Bridges but please check at a ticket office.
