Welcome to Capital Walkers, the friendly London Ramblers group for people aged 40+. We walk every weekend and usually at least once during the week.
A 10.5 mile walk along The Darent Valley Path (some pretty stretches on the River bank) passing through the picturesque villages of Shoreham and Farningham. Relatively flat terrain, with one reasonably challenging (but short) climb after lunch.
After arriving in Dunton Green, cross the tracks on the footbridge and meet in the car park
Lunch will be at Lullingstone Country Park (after 5miles) where there is a cafe, but please bring a packed lunch. There are toilets on site.
The paths are wet and muddy in places; suitable footwear is necessary.
Drop outs are possible in Shoreham (3.5 miles) or Eynsford Station is approx 1 mile detour from our lunch stop.
Due to daylight hours there will be a reasonably brisk pace; Estimated finish time: 3.30pm
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors, such as the weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
Train to Dunton Green: take the 9.20am train from London Bridge; arrives at 10.06
There are no toilets on the train to Dunton Green, nor any at the station.
Return trains from Farningham Road are to London Victoria; they are hourly: 38 mins past the hour (platform 1)
You will need to buy two singles.
